IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THE SETTERS WE HAVE FOR RE-HOMING PLEASE PHONE RATHER THAN E-MAILING. I GET NUMBERS OF E-MAILS GIVING LOTS OF INFORMATION AND EXPRESSING INTEREST BUT, WHEN I REPLY AND ASK FOR A PHONE CALL THERE IS SILENCE.
UNLESS YOUR ARE SERIOUS ABOUT WANTING ONE OF
OUR DOGS AND ARE IN A POSITION READY TO TAKE
ONE IMMEDIATELY AND NOT AFTER A HOLIDAY
YOU HAVE BOOKED WEEKS AHEAD, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE
OUR AND THE KENNELS TIME BY TRYING TO GET LOTS
OF INFORMATION WITH NO INTENTION OF RE-HOMING
OUR DOGS IN THE NEAR FUTURE OR NOT AT ALL. THANK
YOU. I
RICKY. Ricky, a 4 year old neutered lad from the working side of the breed,
has come in to our care directly from his owner who has had him from a puppy. It was this owners first time of owning a Setter
and he did not realize how much energy they have, how much exercise they need, how they have selective deafness, and their
need for human companionship for most of the time. Ricky needs a country home, certainly not in a built-up area unless
they have some land. He is used to being with people for most of the time although he has iived with another dog/bitch.
Ricky, although had access to the house lived in a barn/shed with the other dog But like all Irish Setters would love a comfortable
indoor home I am sure- may need some house training. Ricky is a character, loved to play "tug" games, adores
being groomed, is used to children (we do not re-home with children under 8/9 years and then only if they are used to dogs).
Ricky is s strong dog, needs a Halti for walking. Ricky knows "sit" & "Stay" and will respond
to "Click your fingers" probably would be fine with "Clicker" Ricky is healthy, vaccinated to date,
will be micro chipped and groomed before going to a new home. Ricky would be great with a retired, active person who
could give him the exercise and company he needs but he would also fit into a family (he likes children) provided they could
meet his needs. If you would like Ricky to be your new Best Friend please phone Rescue on 01787

POOR SAM! Sam is back with us again after only two days in
a new home! What did Sam do? well "he behaved like a puppy, went down the bin, and ran away when he was off the
lead after another dog But subsequently came back when called"!!! Sam is a 7 year old entire fellow - he is, we
have been told, Show bred but is lighter in colour and longer in the leg than many - a tall setter! In Sam's previous
life he was owned by a couple, who in their seventies, bought him as an 8 weeks old puppy. Age and illness overtook these
people, the rest of the family could not keep Sam so he came to us in late November. We were told that Sam would sit by his
"Dad's" chair to have his head stroked and be petted! When I saw Sam in Mid December I found his very
excitable and on his write-up I mentioned that Sam was 7 going on 3!!. He is very loving, loves exercise
and will make the right owner a loving companion. Sam, like any rescued dog, needs time to settle into a new home, two
days or even two weeks is simply not enough time to find out exactly what a dog is like. Sam is strong, healthy and
young for his age. We need a home for Sam with probably, strong and lively retired people, who have owned large dogs
before and are prepared to give this happy and loving dog a chance to settle into a new home. Sam is vaccinated up to
date, micro chipped and will be bathed and groomed (again) before going to a new home. If you have the home, the time and
the commitment to be Sam's forever owner please contact Maureen on 01787 248143 or email <info@irishsetterrescue.org.u.k>
RUA & MIDHE (pronounced Mee-ja) Rua, a 6 year old neutered
boy from the Show side of the breed and Midhe a 5 year old neutered girl from the working side of the breed, are looking for
a home together. This pair are reluctantly being given for rehoming because their family will be overseas for a long period
of time (maybe up to a year) and it would not be fair to Rua and Midhe to be kennelled for that length of time. We are
looking for a home with people who have experience of owning setters. A large, secure garden is necessary, they can
be left for periods of time but not more than 4 hours at a time. They are good with cats if introduced to them properly and
older children. Rua nd Midhe have been in the kennels for some little while now and we have had some interest BUT unfortunately
on going into the details of the homes they have unfotunately not been suitable. These two are great fun, they love to run
and play together, adore treats and will do anything to get some. They had a great time at the vets when they went to
have their vaccinations completed and all the vets and nurses made a fuss of them. They are vaccinated up to date, micro chipped
and will be bathed and groomed before going to a new home. If you have the perfect home for this super pair phone Maureen
on 01787 248143 or email<info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk> From the Secretary> I have met these two
and liked them. I believe that they are very affectionate, they have lived with a loving family all their lives and they are
missing that attention and love very much. They do need a large garden, which is very secure where they can play together.
They are inseparable and they must stay together. Someone is missing out on having this great pair. Maureen Hurll.
TALLY. Tally is twelve months old - born in January 2011 . She has
come into Rescue because of the death of her owner. She is an entire girl from the Show side of the breed. A bit worried
at present and we need a very loving and very caring home for her. Some place where there is someone in during the day,
experienced setter owners owners only for this girl. We will need a good sized garden which is
secure for her to play in, a male companion, who is neutered would probably be fine although she was an only dog. She is vaccinated
- booster due in 2 months time, we have micro chipped her and she will be bathed and trimed by a professional Groomer before
going to her forever home. No children under 8/9 years old. We don't know what she is like with cats but,
like most setters, she would probably chase them if they ran. We think that she will need some training as we don't
think she has had much. If you think that you can care for and love Tally please phone Rescue
on 01787 248143 or email.<inmfo@irishsetterrescue.org.uk>
BRUCE. Bruce is a 15 months old entire boy from the working side of the
breed. He has come into our care as his first owner was finding him too much for her. Bruce was bought as a puppy
from a litter in Ireland and came to live in the U.K. with his sister into a family who had owned setters previously and had
always bought them from Ireland. The bitch went to live with the daughter and her family and Mum kept Bruce. Bruce
has been loved and cared for and spoilt. He needs training! He has been used to sleeping on his owners bed and the settee
if it is vacant!! He is a very loving dog and needs to go to a home where he will get loads TLC and somewhere
with someone around all day. He is a strong fellow, although the "workers" are not as tall as the show type,
he does pull on the lead and his recall, if other dogs or anything of interest is around, is not great - a typical setter!!!
He has lived with 3 cats and is fine unless they run when he will chase them. He is house trained, but shoes and
teddies are not safe if Bruce is around - just a puppy really! We are looking for a home for Bruce with someone who
can take his training in hand in an gentle but firm way, someone who has experience of owning Irish Setters is essential.
A Large, secure garden, lots of walks and free exercise in a secure area. Bruce will be vaccinated up to date, chipped
and bathed and groomed before going to a new home. If you are the person who can put the work into training this young,
loving dog please contact Rescue on 01787 248143 or email <info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk>
