Dogs on Rescue

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF THE SETTERS WE HAVE FOR RE-HOMING PLEASE PHONE RATHER THAN E-MAILING. I GET NUMBERS OF E-MAILS GIVING LOTS OF INFORMATION AND EXPRESSING INTEREST BUT, WHEN I REPLY AND ASK FOR A PHONE CALL THERE IS SILENCE.

UNLESS YOUR ARE SERIOUS ABOUT WANTING ONE OF OUR DOGS AND ARE IN A POSITION READY TO TAKE ONE, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE OUR AND THE KENNELS TIME BY TRYING TO GET LOTS OF INFORMATION WITH NO INTENTION OF RE-HOMING OUR DOGS.  THANK YOU.

MY NAME IS DUSTY.

DUSTY.

This is Dusty who has come to us from Ireland but is NOT from the working side of the breed but from the Show side.  Dusty's elderly owner became too frail to care for him, he was given to another member of the family who did not want him!.  He is a really nice dog, a very young looking and young acting 8 year old, neutered, micro chipped, vaccinated. Dusty has been cared for but obviously not in recent times.  He is a little overweight but we are working on that. He is fully feathered and when Linda the Groomer has worked her magic on his coat before he is re-homed, he will be one handsome fellow.  We are looking for a home for him preferably on his own as that is what he is used to. He has been used to cat but of couse may chase ones he does not know.  He is fine with children - bearing in mind we do not re-home where there are children under 8 years, he also seems fine with other dogs. He is a good traveller, a bit possessive about his food- he likes food!  He also knows about horses, but would chase/kill birds or chickens. Dusty is going to make someone a great companion.

If you have that perfect home for Dusty please phone Maureen on 01787 248143 or email<info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk>  The Rescue and Dusty are waiting to hear from you.

ALFIE

ALFIE.

Alfie is an entire 5 year old setter.  He needs a quiet loving home away from lots of noise and traffic.  He has been a family dog but things happened in the family which affected Alfie.  Alfie need a home with experienced setter owners, no young children and no other male dogs - a spayed bitch would be O.K.  A well fenced garden is essential as in his previous home Alfie was allowed to roam because fencing was not secure.  Alfie will need a home where there is someone around for most of the time, although he loves everyone we think that he is a woman's dog.  Alfie is having all his vaccinations done again, he will be wormed, trimmed and bathed and micro chipped before going to a new home.  If you have that perfect home to offer for Alfie please phone 01787 248143 or email<info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk>

2 BITCHES - MAXI & PIXI

 WEEK ONE

The two bitches arrived on Thursday, they are from the working side of the breed and much smaller than the setters bred for Showing.  They are good  tempered which is surprising considering the life they have led up to now.  They have been used for breeding, are very thin and their coats are in poor condition. They will need lots of TLC, bathing and grooming, veterinary treatment, vaccinations completed and they will be chipped in the name of the Rescue. Maxi and Pixi have no experience of life, they don't know about walking on leads, living in a house and all the noises we take for granted are foreign to them and they are frightened. They are such sweet girls and we are looking for loving and caring owners so that from now onwards their lives will be much much better then they could imagine.   The hard life they have led make them look older than they are - we think that they could be about 7 years old but will find out what the vet thinks when he sees them.   Arden Grange have taken an interest in these girls and are providing food for them.

 WEEK TWO

The girls are coming along wonderfully thanks to the loving care they are receiving  at Rockmeadow Kennels and the good food supplied by Arden Grange. Now that we have seen them living together, they do everything together, we really cannot re-home them apart it would be too cruel. They are sisters and have always lived together.  They are smaller in height than the show type and measure just under 20 inches from the top of the shoulders and are very gentle.  So we are looking for a quiet country home for them together, a good sized garden to play in and a soft comfortable bed to sleep in.  Although these girls have lived in kennels we want to home them as house dogs so they will need some training to get used to all the different noises and some house training - they will be well worth it. If you are interested please

Tessa

TESSA (the name we have called her)

Tessa has come from the same place as Maxi, Pixi and Monty and may be the daughter of either Maxi or Pixi, they all look alike and Tessa is a 'smiler' like one of the 'girls'.

Tessa is an entire bitch about 4 years old, she is in better condition and a fraction taller than the 'girls'- maybe 21-22 inches.  Like them she is sweet natured, loves a fuss and a cuddle but like them she needs training in all aspects - house training, lead training etc.  We are looking for a home for Tessa in a quiet country situation, a large well fenced garden, someone around for most of the time to train her and be her companion.  Although she has lived with other dogs we want a home for her either alone or with a neutered male dog. Tessa will be vaccinated, micro chipped and bathed and groomed before going to a new home.  The vet is visiting the kennels this week to check all the four dogs we have taken in from Ireland.  If you are interested in Tessa(we have asked if anyone knows her name in Ireland) please phone 01787 248143 or email <info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk)
