Monty at the Kennels before his Op.

 UPDATE JULY 10th.

Monty came through his Op with  flying colours on Tuesday, he has been castrated and had some bad and worn teeth removed and the remainder cleaned.   X-rays were taken of his poor legs and we now await the verdict from the  Orthopaedic  vet to find out if anything can be done to help him.  We have a new picture of him taken when we visited the Kennels.  The Rescue would like to thank everyone who has shown concern for Monty and his future.  Please be assured that Monty, even if nothing can be done, and we will explore every avenue, will not be PTS.  Although a few kind people have offered a home for Monty, unfortunately all of them already own male dogs and as we have been told that Monty was used at stud (unbelievable) therefore we need a home without  other male dogs.  Rescue would also like to thank those who have so kindly offered financial help to go towards Monty's costs.

UPDATE ON MONTY. (we have had so many people inquiring about Monty that we will issue reports as things progress)

On Tuesday July 6th Monty is going into the vets to be castrated and have his teeth seen to.  The vet will X-ray Monty's legs and hips whilst he is asleep. These X-rays will be sent to a specialist Orthopaedic vet who will study the X-rays to see whether there is  any operation that can be done to help Monty.  Depending on the results and of course the costs involved, we will be needing a home for Monty so that if surgery is possible and is affordable by the Rescue, Monty will be in a home where he can have careful nursing after the operation/s.  A couple of the Trustees and one of our volunteers have seen Monty at the kennels - he does have some mobility and can even run, although we feel that if he were to be re-homed where there are other dogs he would do his best to try to keep up with them and exhaust himself in the process. He needs a home where he can be the only one or maybe with an older quiet spayed bitch for company. Anyone interested to re-home Monty in a home as described above should contact the Rescue on 01787 248143 or email,info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk>

CAN ANYONE HELP MONTY?

My name is Monty I am 6 years old and I am homeless.  I know that I am not good looking - my disability and my size (a little bigger than a Spaniel) is off putting to some people. But Hey it's not my fault, I was born like this.  Me and the others, ten in all, have not had a good life and now our owner no longer wants us.  Two of the older "girls" have travelled to the U.K. and 7 more are still in Ireland to be 'working dogs'. I have heard that some dogs actually live in houses like people, have soft beds to sleep on, get wonderful tasty food, all they can eat, and get cuddles, attention and lots of love, I have not experienced this at all.  I would try so hard to learn different ways and be a good dog if only someone will take pity on me and save my life, because if I don't find a home the man in the white coat will come with his big needle.......................HELP!  Please phone 01787 248143 or email <info@irishsetterrescue.org.uk> if you can help me.
